Payataxi receives approval from TfL to go electric
May 2, 2018

Card payment solutions provider Payataxi has now been approved by Transport for London (TfL) as a card payment provider for new electric black cabs. From the 1st January 2018 taxis presented for licensing for the first time will need to be zero emissions capable (ZEC) of driving for at least 30 miles.

Payataxi offers a TfL approved, secure mobile card payment solution that can connect to drivers smartphones – making it quick and easy to start accepting contactless and chip and pin card payments from passengers. Black cab taxi drivers have a range of packages to choose from and can either rent or buy an in-car kit outright.

Bill Thomson, MD at Payataxi said: “We’re delighted to add this new approval from TfL. Payataxi is committed to providing London black cab drivers with secure and competitive card payment solutions and ensuring we support the roll out of vehicles which help the environment.”

Since 2016 taxis in London drivers must demonstrate that they have the ability to accept card and contactless payments, and provide receipts for those payments upon request.
