We’ve addressed this issue by removing all fixed monthly and minimum usage fees, lengthy contracts and exit charges – saving you up to £360 per year.
A unique feature of our ‘Pay As You Go’ product is you can accept payments using any of our channels – online, telephone, email & invoice links and Chip & PIN.
The only extra fee, if ordered, is the cost of a buying or renting a Chip & PIN terminal or Card Reader should you wish to accept face-to-face payments.

FAQ - How do I know I've been paid?
You can accept a card payment using any of our payment channels. Once a payment has been made and authorised by the cardholder’s bank we send immediate confirmation by email or SMS text depending on the payment channel used and the preferences selected in your account. If you use Chip & PIN you will see the authorisation on screen.
All payments (irrespective of payment channel) can be viewed in your account, making it easier to track & reconcile your payments. And, if you capture your customer’s email address (or mobile phone number in the case of Chip & PIN), our solution will automatically send a receipt.
FAQ - When we settle to you
Pay As You Go account funds are settled every Tuesday and transferred by BACS to your bank account the same day.
BACS payments are normally credited to your account on the Thursday i.e. after 2 working days. Each Tuesday the settlement includes all payments processed up to midnight on the preceding Friday.

Standard Merchant Account funds are settled daily (T+3). Faster settlement is available for a small fee.
FAQ - Is this the right account for me?
If you’re new to cards or only accept low volumes of card payments then, from a cost perspective, this is likley to be the best account for you.
Unlike standard merchant accounts, there are no monthly minimum usage or separate PCI fees. Typically this saves around £30.00 +VAT per month!
Pay As You Go transaction rates are a bit higher, but for most low users the overall cost is still less than standard merchant accounts.
In the event your turnover increases we can switch you to a standard merchant account.
FAQ - What does 'No Lengthy Contract' mean?
When you apply for a Paya, Pay As You Go account there is no contract term associated with the account. This means if you decide to stop using it that’s fine.
You will be asked to sign an agreement to use the account and process transactions in line with our Terms & Conditions.
If you order a card machine there may or may not be a minimum term associated with teh equipment hire, depending on the offer.
FAQ - What does it cost to accept payments?
The rate you pay automatically adjusts based on your total card sales per week.
For Visa & MasterCard transactions, the rate payable is:
Weekly sales band = the rate you pay:
£0.00 to £500.00 = 2.90%
£500.01 to £1000.00 = 2.70%
£1000.01 to £2500.00 = 2.50%
£2500.01 and over = 2.30%
American Express costs 3.95% per transaction irrespective of your weekly card turnover. Rates apply to both credit and debit card payments.
Refunds are charged at 2.00%.
A minimum fee of 30 pence applies to all transactions. Please note this is not an additional charge and only applies where the total cost of a transaction is less than 30 pence, typically on sales under £10.00.
Transaction fees are VAT exempt.
Please note: If you apply for the FREE Paya Lite account the rates are fixed at 2.9% for MasterCard & Visa.
